Welcome to St. John's Art!

My name is Nanci Stadel and I will be teaching art at JCMS and St. Johns this year. I was raised in Jackson, but got my degree from the University of Kansas (Go Jayhawks!). I am a certified K-12 in Art and have taught at all levels in Kansas, Texas, Grass Lake and Jackson. I am excited to be in this new teaching position and I have felt welcomed by the staff. I look forward to meeting you and getting to know your children. I understand that all children are not gifted in art and so effort will play a significant role in grading. (I have poster in my room that says, "Don't be afraid to try. Remember an amateur built the Ark and a professional built the Titanic.") I know that your child will feel successful after learning to "see" better and being exposed to different art and media. Goal
My goal is to give students the opportunity to work with different art tools and materials (media) using the basic elements of art (line, color, value, texture, shape, form, and space)

Grading
Students will be graded on effort, behavior, and following directions in class. Grading scale as follows:
1 = Exceeds Expectations
2 = Meets expectations
3 = Needs Improvement
